The Valuation Office Agency (VOA) are the public sector’s property valuation experts. We give the government the property advice needed to support taxation and benefits. This includes business rates, council tax, housing allowances, statutory valuations and property advice across the public sector.
Our work is vital to the collection of over £60 billion of revenue which goes back into communities, touching every citizen and every business across England and Wales.
We are one of the biggest employers of surveyors in the UK, and we also offer opportunities in many other professions including operational delivery roles in customer services and business administration.
We collect property data that supports the work of other departments: e.g. we contribute to the ONS Consumer Price Index; inform the work of DESNZ to make properties more energy-efficient: help DWP to check claims for housing benefit; and provide information for Defra’s Flood Reinsurance initiative.
